My kids share their (strong!) opinions about texting and other tech distractions

Did you see this article in the New York Times (November 21, 2010) –  Growing up Digital, Wired for Distraction.  It reads, in part:

Researchers say the lure of these technologies, while it affects adults too, is particularly powerful for young people. The risk, they say, is that developing brains can become more easily habituated than adult brains to constantly switching tasks — and less able to sustain attention.

A very timely article, as I read it as I was preparing the response portion of the interviews with my kids about texting.  Yes, as I was preparing … I was reading the paper online, talking with them (taking video and audio snippets), and drafting the post of their responses at the same time.  It’s not only kids who feel the many-armed pulled of technology!

To read the interview, please click over to this post on my site.  Their responses may surprise you (and I get a bit of lesson from my six-year-old in his video interview).
